About this course6-hour Accredited Emergency First Aid at Work course (EFAW)
The course covers what to do in an emergency situation with a child (over 1yr) or adult and is suitable for anyone who wants to receive training in emergency first aid within a smaller, low risk working environment. By the end of the course, successful candidates will be able to:
• Understand the role and responsibility of a first aider
• Assess an incident including conducting a primary survey
• Help a child or adult who is unresponsive and breathing normally
• Help a casualty who is having a seizure
• Help a child or adult who is unresponsive and NOT breathing normally
• Administer CPR including using a defibrillator
• Recognise and assist a child or adult who is choking
• Help a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
• Recognise and help a casualty who is in shock (from severe blood loss)
• Help a casualty with a minor injury
• Be able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis
All attendees will receive a course book. You will be continually assessed throughout the day through discussion and practical activities. There is no written assessment. Please be aware that you will be expected to complete 2 minutes of continuous CPR on the floor. Certification is dependent on successful continuous assessment of the student, there is no final exam. Those students who complete the course and are deemed to have reached the required standard are issued with a certificate that is valid for 3 years. Unfortunately, we have a no-refund policy. All candidates will need to bring their own lunch and refreshments for the day. There is a cafe & shops nearby. Parking is roadside, please allow time to find parking.
