Emergency Centre Manager Training (Face-to-Face)
About this Event
Emergencies can and do strike without warning, pushing community members into unfamiliar situations and disrupting support networks. In these crucial early stages, the provision of shelter, safety and information are vital. Emergency centres provide a centre point for this support to be delivered; they require decisive action and pragmatic decision making of the manager to ensure the safety and well-being of all those affected.
As part of the London Local Authority's emergency planning sector standardisation, and within the wider context of the UK's latest guidance on Emergency Centres, this half-day training course will equip the attendee with the necessary skills to run and emergency centre in the role of Emergency Centre Manager.
The core objectives of the training are to know and understand:
- Be able to list your role in setting up and closing down a centre.
- Know why good communication with colleagues and the public is so important.
- Have practiced how to deal with several challenging situations that may arise in an emergency centre.
- Explain what logging is, why it is important and how to do it.
- Have had the opportunity to network and share ideas with each other
Completion of the course will mean you are trained to be an Emergency Centre Manager. Slides will be circulated after the session.
