Slow down, settle into the rhythm of stitching, and explore the expressive world of embroidery and surface design during this tactile drop-in crafting experience at The Shiny Shop. Participants are invited to add texture, pattern, color, embellishment, and personal storytelling to garments, fabric scraps, patches, and found textiles through approachable hand-stitching techniques.

Whether you’re creating delicate details, bold graphic stitching, abstract textures, tiny symbols, visible mending, or richly layered embellishments, this activation embraces embroidery as both a meditative process and a powerful tool for self-expression.

Guests are welcome to bring garments or textiles from home to personalize and transform, or experiment freely with materials provided throughout the space.

Materials include:

• Embroidery hoops

• Colorful embroidery floss

• Needles & stitching tools

• Fabric scraps & textile surfaces

• Garments & patch materials

• Beads, sequins & embellishments

No prior sewing or embroidery experience required. Participants may keep things simple and intuitive or spend time building detailed layered surfaces through stitch and embellishment.

Perfect for textile lovers, slow crafters, visible menders, maximalists, and anyone interested in creating tactile handmade details filled with personality and care.

📍 Arrival Notes: Guests may enter through the front lobby doors and will find The Shiny Shop just inside the first door past the lobby. You’re also welcome to knock on our windows from the outside of the shop if you need help finding us — we’re happy to wave you in.
