As you move through labor and birth, you could “go with the flow.”You could also go with YOUR flow.
Embody Your Birth is a mind-body-birth prep workshop series for birthing people and their partners who aim to attune to physiology and one another. These workshops will help you cultivate presence, honor your instincts, and build out a practical and intentional birth-related skillset that can serve your family in the birth space and beyond. Together, you can create labor, birth, and postpartum experiences that reflect your family values and vision.

Workshop 1: Labor Prep
Saturday 4/11, 10AM-12PM
The Origami House
Prepare to walk through the threshold of labor together in this interactive workshop designed for birth duos (a pregnant person + their primary support person) who want to approach labor as a team. Partners will learn and practice hands-on support techniques including comfort measures, intentional positioning, breathing guidance, and touch so they can ground themselves and actively support the birthing person throughout labor. Together you’ll build practical skills, confidence, and connection so both of you feel empowered as you approach the transformational experience ahead.

Workshop 2: Birth Prep
Saturday 4/18, 10AM-12PM
The Origami House
Featuring Special Guest Dr. Karen Timm-Lenning, Pelvic Floor Physical Therapist of New Seasons PT
Get ready to "push" in this workshop centered on attuning to and working with your pelvic floor. You’ll learn how the pelvic floor functions during pregnancy and birth, practice different mind-body techniques that can support effective pushing, and workshop positions that can help your particular body bring your baby into the world. We’ll also discuss what this stage can look like in different birth settings and how partners can provide support, comfort, and protection so each birth duo can move through the birth portal with information, discernment, and love. With nothing else like it in the Kalamazoo area, this birth prep workshop is a can't-miss!

Workshop 3: Postpartum Prep
Saturday 4/25, 10AM-12PM
The Origami House
Lay the groundwork for an empowering Fourth Trimester where we'll explore the postpartum window as an integration period following the rite of passage of birth. We will also look into the concept of matrescence (and its lesser known counterpart, patrescence)—the profound physical, emotional, and identity shift that unfolds as someone becomes a mother. You’ll learn practical ways to care for each family member's body, mind, and spirit after birth; partners will gain meaningful tips, tricks, and tools to provide support so the whole family can flow through this season feeling connected, resourced, and ready for parenting beyond the days (and nights!) of snuggling a newborn.

Each birth team consisting of a pregnant person + their primary support person can register for individual workshops for $75/birth team or for the entire workshop series for $200/birth team.
Prices include the Mindful Matrescence Pregnancy + Birth Resource Guide, Local Perinatal Provider List, Breastfeeding/Chestfeeding Prep Guide, and a 1-hour doula consult.
