About this Event
Join me, Shannon Berentschot, for a 70-minute Soundbath meditation!
Soundbath meditations (also known as Soundscapes, Sound Therapy, etc), help our nervous systems switch into restorative alpha and/or theta states much quicker than we'd otherwise experience these shifts. When I experienced a Soundbath for the first time, I lovingly called it a "meditation hack" because it allowed me to downregulate my nervous system in a way I never experienced before! I always had an incredibly challenging time with traditional meditation and eventually gave up on it entirely. It was only when I pursued my certification in Sound Therapy in 2019 that I learned that there is a lot of science, and a rich history from hundreds of cultures around the world to back up organic sound's ability to be used for nervous system regulation and deep, cellular restoration.
In this 70-minute Soundbath, you will participate in a "group meditation" of sorts. All you have to do is let go of any expectations you may have (of the experience and/or of yourself) and just experience the subtle changes in your sonic environment. Your body and nervous system will do the rest!
(P.S. it is called a "Soundbath" because you are being bathed in sound waves that flood all around you)
Responses to Soundbaths that I've heard over the years include:
- deeper and more restful sleep
- improved digestion
- increased sense of creativity and mental clarity
- epiphanies
- less overall stress
- sensory stimuli (such as warming sensations or vividly seeing beautiful colours)
- a feeling of an increased sense of well-being and connectedness
The list really does go on and on...
Please note that it is normal to have one of these experiences, none of these experiences, or different experiences altogether. There is no universal experience - even though we are all technically experiencing the same sounds in the same room :)
There is no "right" way to experience a Soundbath. You can wear sweats, jeans, yoga pants, or your PJs - whatever is most comfortable for you. You can choose to lie down, sit up, or alternate throughout the experience. While it is recommended to find a position you can comfortably stay in for an hour, you have full autonomy during your Soundbath, and if your body feels inspired to stretch, rock back and forth, or switch from laying to sitting - please listen to these prompts. Anything goes when it comes to your experience, as long as you use discretion and respect the environment of those around you (i.e. physically, verbally, etc.). While the most common practice is laying down during a Soundbath, every body is different, and lots of people don't find laying down for 60 minutes comfortable or accessible. Please note that you are more than welcome to bring a chair or any other support in order to make the experience more comfortable for you! If you have any questions about accessibility, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Please be sure to bring your own:
- water bottle
- yoga mat
- blanket
- pillows/bolsters
- eye mask
- journal & pen
and anything else you'd like to accompany you in your Soundbath!
If you have any questions, please reach out to Shannon at [email protected]!
T icket Offerings:
General Admission for a Soundbath is $35 per person.
Because I deeply believe that more benefits are likely to be experienced if you practice frequently - if you enjoy your Soundbath experience, I am offering a 5-Session Package for $135.
Finally, because I believe that practices such as these should be as accessible as possible (especially these days) if you require it, I also offer my sessions on a sliding scale. Please email me at [email protected] to get more information about this offering.
I genuinely look forward to seeing everyone :)
