About this Event
Feelings of shame around the topic of sex are all too common, whether we realize they are there or not. Often, we mistake shame for guilt, which involves feeling regret over actions, behaviors, and/or thoughts we label as 'wrong', whereas shame is deeper and internal. Shame is a belief that we are flawed and unworthy.
During this workshop, we will be exploring the intersection between shame and sex and invite women who are curious about their sexual experiences to:
- Identify and understand the roots of sexual shame through reflection on sexual history
- Share personal experiences to foster connection and normalize feelings of shame
- Engage in movement and breathwork techniques to release and transform shame
- Reframe the narrative to nurture self confidence and sexual liberation
Our aim is to spark a conversation around sexual shame, shedding light on an often hidden and heavy topic. By bringing these feelings out of the dark and giving them space to breathe, we hope you leave feeling lighter and more confident as a sexual being.
Trigger Warning: The topic of this event is sensitive in nature.
The facilitators of this event do have a background in trauma-informed work and in sexual violence prevention, however are not designated trauma or sex therapists. Following the workshop, the facilitators will be providing a list of resources and can help participants connect to the right support.
