Why attend? Embers-in-Ash is a fun and playful partner dance Immersion designed to stoke the fire within, to expand your edges, to facilitate the growth of your partner dance skills and abilities so you look smooth-and-saucy when you share your partner dance videos with your friends!
This Immersion features:
5+ hours of Fusion partner dance training with Ethan & Tamara (Bend,OR)
2 evening Social Dance Mixers
1 free-form AM ecstatic dance party
Accessible base-techniques sourced from multiple dance genres that have been specifically designed for beginners and early-stage Fusion partner dancers.
Group Somatic exercises designed to get you in your body and embrace your unique flow.
Simple dance language that supports your understanding, growth, and dance development.
Trainings and Techniques that allow you to smoothly flow between various dance styles
An awesome community to connect and partner dance with!!!
Who? Anyone interested in partner dancing, even brand new to Fusion beginners!
When? Friday & Saturday, Jan 9th & 10th
Where? Jack & Sari’s estate studio - Ashland, OR.
Why? Because partner dancing is the funnest wellness practice ever! and you deserve it!
Friday
7pm lesson | Swing fundamentals (special focus on structure, tone, tension and compression)
8-10pm | Social dance
Saturday
10-11:30am | Get-up and Groove! Free-form ecstatic movement in motion
1-2pm | Somatic Fundamentals of lead | follow
2-3pm | Open | Medium | Close dance position training… Swing into Tango! Tango into Swing!
3-4pm | Symmetrance (similar to Contact-improvisation, but with clear lead/follow)
4-4:30pm | How to genre-fuse
4:30-5pm | Musicality
5-7pm | VIP dinner (TBD restaurant or potluck)
7-10pm | Social dance

15 minutes of 1 on 1, hand’s-on training with Ethan (lead or follow)
Video that encapsulates the Immersion training

About your dance facilitator - Ethan
With 15+ years of dance experience including time spent as a teacher, a dancer, a dj, an event coordinator, and an all-around ambassador-of-shenanigans on the dance-floor, Ethan firmly established his love for dance in the ecstatic and contact improvisation communities before a full-out transition to Fusion partner dancing by way of West Coast Swing, Latin dance, and Tango, respectively. Ethan's love for Fusion partner dancing is apparent to anyone who's ever shared a dance-floor with him, and he very much looks forward to sharing that love with you.
About - Tamara
Tamara has an extended dance background dating back to childhood. She was trained in a classic dance studio and later taught herself hiphop street style dancing. She led a dance troupe to a few national competitions as a lead choreographer. In her later years you might have seen her on the dance floor at many different music and dance events. In 2006 she found ecstatic dance on the Big Island and in Portland and has been dancing ecstatically ever since. Fusion Dance is her latest obsession. While she is newer to fusion dance she is curious and excited to evolve with this dance style and to shared it with others.
