Tonight – an authentic Fasching (Carnival Celebration) as you’ve never experienced before!

On Friday March 7 celebrate Carnival/Karneval on Austrian soil and in true Austrian fashion as you never have before! Don your most festive Karneval outfits costumes or masquerade and ring in this joyous season with the Austrian spirit as they are celebrating simultaneously throughout Vienna Innsbruck Salzburg Wachau.

Experience a true Austrian Celebration with Austrian Karneval Food Open Bar Live Austrian Band Karneval Dance Show (with Lessons) Characters Comedy Late Night DJ and Dancing Film and More!

We are encouraging two choices in outfits:

1) BLACK AND WHITE: We encourage you to wear your back and white tuxes gowns suits or cocktail dresses.  OR

2) COSTUME: For those with the true Karneval Spirit come dressed as they do on the streets of Vienna!

Plus – in true Austrian Fasching Style – one lucky male and female will be crowned the prince and princess of Karneval (note: This does not mean a “couple”. The winners will be judged and chosen separately. )

PROGRAM:

1) DIPLOMATIC GREETING:

Kick off the Karneval Celebration with a greeting members of the embassy!

2) LIVE AUTHENTIC AUSTRIAN KARNEVAL BAND:

As if you were dancing in near the Prater’s Roller Coaster in Vienna or on the Streets of Salzburg celebrate the season with native and authentic Austrian/German Musicians. Their high energy party style comes straight from their experience with the Austrian Car Celebrations!

3) THE “RADETZKY MARCH”

Though traditionally reserved for the Austrian Balls we host tonight we will take a short break from the Karneval celebration and in our costumes learn and experience Strauss’ famous Ballroom March.

4) KARNEVAL COSTUME CONTEST:

If you arrive in masquerade costume or otherwise Karneval wear a special costume contest will be held – with Austrian judges! Prizes awarded! Then all costumed attendees will take part in a parade through the embassy hall.

5) THE CORONATION OF THE PRINCE AND PRINCESS OF KARNEVAL

In addition to the Costume Contest a series of fun challenges will help us determine the ultimate Prince and Princess of Karneval. Prizes Awarded!

6) LATE NIGHT DJ & DANCING:

For the last hour of the event one of Washington’s greatest DJs takes us via music to the hottest nightclubs of Berlin Munich and Cologne – playing European and U.S. Retro Modern High Energy and Top 40 Dance hits!

7) AUSTRIAN KARNEVAL BUFFET (VIP Option Below will Full Menu Options)

If you ever strolled through an Austrian marketplace and looked in the store windows you can’t help but be tempted by those delectable desserts. We’ll have them for you to enjoy tonight as well: Linzer tortes hazelnut tortes Viennese apple tarts Austrian white and dark chocolate Florentines and bittersweet Austrian chocolate squares dusted with confectioner’s sugar. Enjoy an evening buffet of these tantalizing Austrian delights all as if picked from the best pastry shops in Austria.

8) KARNEVAL SURPRISES:

Be on the lookout for all sorts of surprises including some live comedy AND appearance by a Carnival Jester!

9) MOVIE:

To quench your thirst for Austrian travel and cultural interests partake in a viewing of the scenery culture and people of Austria during the Karneval season!

10) VIP OPTION:  For a little extra royalty this evening you will get:

– Early Admission to the Gala (7:00 PM);

– Private Champagne Reception;

– A Special Karneval Giveaway

– Special Early Austrian Carnival Dinner Menu (TBA)
