Hindsight Film Festival presents an exclusive look at Emancipation to Exodus, the upcoming four-part series from Ken Burns, set to premiere on PBS in 2028. Peabody winner and Emmy-nominated filmmaker David McMahon will screen interview selects from and discuss the making of this portrait of the Black experience in America from Emancipation to the Great Migration, including Reconstruction, a turbulent era that remains among the most misunderstood and misrepresented periods of our past. Attendees will see excerpts from interviews with scholars such as Dr. Bennett Parten, professor of History at Georgia Southern University, and hear from McMahon on how he and his collaborators, directors Ken Burns, Sarah Burns and Erika Dilday, are seeking out this remarkable story and putting it on film. Pamela Kirkland, host of Georgia Public Broadcasting’s Morning Edition, will lead a discussion and Q&A.
