About this Event
'Bodies in Poetry: Bodies, Words and Images Collide'
A line of poetry, an image, a gesture of the body, each holding its own meaning, but shifting when placed beside something else. This session explores drawing through these small collisions. Participants will move through a series of short, timed drawings, each accompanied by a poetic line and an image, passed from one person to another as the session unfolds. Like verses moving through different voices, each moment carries forward, slightly altered by the next.
As the model moves through a continuous sequence of poses, participants respond not only to the figure, but to what the words evoke and what the images seem to be saying. Meanings overlap, shift, and occasionally contradict. No single drawing needs to resolve anything.
Instead, the session builds a shared rhythm, where bodies, words, and images influence one another in subtle and unexpected ways.

We do not instruct; instead, we invite participants to share. We believe that art connects people, and sharings improve creativity!
We host weekly themed untutored gatherings at a variety of one-of-a-kind places in London. You may have also heard of us because of the work we have done with the National Gallery, Open House Festival London, SOHO HOUSE, Urbanism/Architecture Bi-City Biennale (UABB), The European Biennial of Contemporary Art and more.

The London Latvian Centre stands out as a unique and charming focal point for Latvians in the heart of London.
Nestled just a stone's throw from the serene Kensington Gardens and a short walk from the bustling Paddington Station, the property houses a Latvian school; the Latvian Social Centre, serving traditional Latvian beers, drinks, and dishes; a bed and breakfast; and functional rooms acting as a cultural hub for celebrating Latvian heritage, including housing folk dance groups like Londona Dejo, Salinieki, and Jautrais pāris.
The house also exhibits photographs of the people most involved in leading Latvian society, as well as art works and other artefacts created by Latvian artists or donated by Latvians.

Rundown:
Doors open: 6.55pm
Life drawing: 7 to 8:30pm (mix of short and long poses, with short break)
Door close: 9pm
House Rules:
- NO REFUNDS - Due to the amount of time and effort invested in event planning, we are unable to give refunds for this event.
- Book ASAP - Please book online for you and your friends in advance so we know how to arrange the seats.
- Some basic drawing materials and paper will be available for free but if you wish to bring your own sketchbooks and materials please do! Drawing boards, small tables and cosy sofa seats are all provided on a first come-first served basis.
- Discrimination and bullying in any form will not be tolerated at our events.
- This is a 18+ event. We operate a challenge 25 policy at the bar, so please bring ID with you.
- Photography and Filming take place during workshops and gallery opening times. Please let us know if you do not want to be on film. All material captured is used for either our social media or future promotion.
