Ellsworth as Muse: Exhibition Celebrates the City Through the Eyes of Artists

What happens when artists are invited to see Ellsworth not just as a place, but as inspiration?
Beginning May 15 and running through July 12, 2026, Courthouse Gallery Fine Art invites residents and visitors to experience ELLSWORTH AS MUSE, a special exhibition celebrating the people, places, history, and character that make our community unique.
Created in honor of Courthouse Gallery’s 20th anniversary in Ellsworth, the exhibition features works by artists who were challenged to explore the many layers of the City and offer fresh perspectives on a place we know and love.
From historic buildings and busy streets to quiet corners and unexpected moments, the exhibit highlights the stories, energy, and personality that make Ellsworth special.
Ahead of the reception, Courthouse Gallery owner Karin Wilkes recently stopped by City Hall to visit with City Manager Charlie Pearce and admire the historic waterfront mural hanging outside his office. The artwork captures a piece of Ellsworth’s rich history and sparked a conversation about the many stories, landmarks, and moments that inspire artists in our community. It was a wonderful reminder that Ellsworth itself continues to be a muse connecting our past, present, and future through art.
The public is also invited to attend an Artist Reception on:
Wednesday, June 24, 2026, 5 – 7 pm at the Courthouse Gallery Fine Art, located at 6 Court Street, Ellsworth.
Whether you’re a longtime resident, a frequent visitor, or someone seeing Ellsworth for the first time, this exhibition offers a unique opportunity to experience our community through the eyes of talented artists.
Congratulations to Courthouse Gallery Fine Art on twenty years of enriching Ellsworth’s cultural landscape.
