Elling Eide Center - Group Volunteer Mango Day
About this Event
Activity
Generally, volunteers gather at the Elling Eide Center to help with habitat restoration and enhancement at our 72-acre bay-front nature preserve, help care for Elling's 7-acre fruit and ornamental tree arboretum, or support the native plant conservation seed bank and horticulture program. Specific activities are determined in the days prior to the event, based on Preserve needs.
Following work, interested guests are invited to join a potluck picnic, described below.
Summer Special: Mango Flair
The Eide Center arboretum is filled with mature mango trees, and they are loaded with fruit this year. To celebrate, the volunteer events in June and July will emphasize a connection with the mangoes. During this volunteer workday, volunteers are guaranteed to work directly with mangoes, enjoy the fruit and preserves at the potluck picnic, and learn about mangoes and their connection with China. While the volunteer activity is TBD, it will most likely be working in the kitchen processing mangoes for preserves and dehydration.

11:30 - 12:30 – Potluck picnic
