Eliza Carthy stands at the fierce, beating heart of English folk music, and The Restitution is the band that brings her full creative fire to life. A powerhouse ensemble of contemporary folk musicians, The Restitution transforms Carthy’s songs into bold, cinematic performances driven by groove, grit and emotional punch.
Featuring Dave Delarre (guitars), Ben Seal (bass, co‑writer and co‑producer), Phil Alexander (piano) and Willy Molleson (drums), the band delivers a sound that is both deeply rooted and defiantly modern. Their live shows move effortlessly between razor‑sharp traditional material, swaggering folk‑rock, and the raw, poetic storytelling that has defined Carthy’s three‑decade career.
The Restitution are the engine behind Carthy’s recent creative surge, including Queen of the Whirl, Through That Sound (My Secret Was Made Known), and her forthcoming album Frenemies.
On stage, they are electric: a full‑blooded, high‑energy outfit capable of turning intimate rooms into communal, standing‑room celebrations.
Uncompromising, inventive and unmistakably Eliza, The Restitution is the definitive expression of one of Britain’s most fearless and influential artists.
