🐕‍🦺This comprehensive course is designed for those seeking to deepen their expertise in canine detection and become qualified instructors. Led by Ilkka Hormila (IlMaGlobal), a master instructor with 40 years of experience training detection dogs for police, military, and SAR teams, the program offers a structured, evidence-based approach to scent work. Joanna Mędrzecka-Stefańska (ScentmAster), assistant instructor, will co-lead the course, providing additional expertise and support.
📓Participants will explore advanced topics, including scent theory, operational tactics, and methods for scent imprinting and discrimination. The program consists of lectures, practical exercises, and workshops focusing on planning, documenting, analyzing and teaching detection training. The curriculum also includes sessions on organizing training, giving feedback, and managing group dynamics, ensuring participants are equipped to effectively train both dogs and their handlers.
🎓The program is divided into six modules (June 2025–May 2026), with enrollment limited to 8 participants. Candidates must have prior experience in dog training, complete an entry exam, and document their progress with client groups during the course. Certification is rigorous and granted only to those who meet all criteria, including practical evaluations and theory exams.
