Lecture by Prof. Claire Wallace CMR Seminar
The talk will focus upon travel Content Creators as self-employed professionals in the digital economy who move from place to place and could be described as Digital Nomads. Their work involves orbiting between the travel industry and consumers in the form of their online followers, negotiating a precarious existence which is neither spatially nor institutionally anchored. The research was funded by the British Economic and Social Research Council as part of the Digital Futures of Work Research Centre at Sussex University.
Claire Wallace is Professor of Sociology at the University of Aberdeen and has been studying the digital economy in rural areas for some years, but more recently has been researching film and media tourism in Scotland.Her interests also include cultural heritage and well-being.
