About this Event
Sponsored by Ms. Betty O'Lear amd B Cubed Engineering
Join us for our season opener of romantic power and poetic finesse as the orchestra presents two masterworks from the 19th century: Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 “Titan” and Mendelssohn’s beloved Violin Concerto, featuring violin soloist, Timothy Schwarz.
Mendelssohn’s Violin concerto offers the listener a seamless blend of emotional depth and technical brilliance. A favorite among audiences and violinists alike, it continues to captivate with its elegance. Often nicknamed the “Titan,” Mahler's symphony traces an extraordinary emotional journey — from nature’s awakening in the opening movement to a triumphant, blazing finale. Drawing on folk tunes, funeral marches, and expansive orchestration, Mahler crafts a sound world both personal and universal, filled with drama, wonder, passion, and sheer power.

Timothy Schwarz made his solo debut with the legendary Philadelphia Orchestra at age nine and has had a brilliant international career as a soloist, chamber musician and pedagogue earning accolades such as “A virtuoso tour de force” (Gramophone) and “glorious tone and impeccable technique” (Music Web International). In between playing and teaching, Schwarz often performs as substitute musician for the Philadelphia Orchestra and Baltimore Symphony.
Seating - Doors open at 7:00 PM. The program will include intermission and run for approximately 2 hours. Seating is "general admission."
