El Monte & South El Monte Youth Public Transit Tour: Griffith Observatory
About this Event
El Monte and South El Monte youth ages 12 to 26 are invited to spend the day exploring Los Angeles by public transit. We’ll start at the El Monte Bus Station, travel together to Griffith Observatory, explore the area, enjoy a short hike and lunch, then make our way back to El Monte.
This is a great opportunity to learn how to navigate public transportation, explore one of Los Angeles’ most iconic destinations, and spend the day with other local youth.
Start/finish at: El Monte Bus Station | 3357 Santa Anita Ave, El Monte, CA 91731
Getting There: Metro
Parking: Plenty of parking on site. Parking is free on Weekends
Hike Details: Boy Scout Trail: 0.8mi, 365ft elevation
Items to Bring:
- Water/Refillable bottle
- Closed toe shoes
- Comfortable clothing (light, removable layers for the heat)
- Sunglasses and/or hat
We will provide:
- Lunch
- Transportation
- Sunscreen
*** PLEASE NOTE: All ride participants must sign a waiver to participate. A parent or legal guardian must sign for any minors under 18 participating in the event, chaperone must be present.***

Participants must be El Monte and South El Monte youth 12-26, Chaperones for youth are welcome to join!
Pre-registration is required for all participants. A parent or guardian must accompany and remain on site with minors until waiver is completed.

Heat Policy
Participant safety is our top priority. Please bring a water bottle and stay hydrated before, during, and after the ride. We also encourage participants to get enough sleep the night before, eat a healthy breakfast, wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing, and apply sunscreen. Participants will be notified at least 24 hours in advance if the trip is modified, postponed, or canceled.
