Please join Eileen’s Dementia Avengers for our 3rd annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s at the Detroit Zoo! I walk in memory of my mama, who I lost to Alzheimer’s in 2021, just 6 weeks after my wedding.
In the years we have been walking, we have seen the Detroit walk go from 17th in the nation, to the 11th. This year, with the help of people like you, we have the opportunity to break into the top 10.
In the years that we have been walking, we have seen the addition of a Dementia Unit here in the state of Michigan to help bridge the gap for patients and their caregivers. We have also seen new drugs on the market to slow the progression of this disease.
It’s important to catch this disease early to see the maximum benefit from these new treatments. That’s why the Alzheimer’s Association is also supporting research to create a blood test for markers of Alzheimer’s, much like the bloodwork used for early detection of some cancers.
