Melaya Leff
When: Saturday December 13, 1:30 – 3:30 pm
Description:
Melaya leff is one of the most unique Egyptian styles, harkening back to the Egyptian golden era with the use of a melaya or shawl. In this workshop, Mohamed will teach the feminine ways of dancing with Melaya in keeping with the character dance most often associated with Alexandria, Egypt.
Nubian Dance
When: Saturday December 13, 3:45 – 5:45 pm
Description:
Nubian is one of the oldest folk cultures originating in the south between Egypt and Sudan. which is why the traditional costuming is so distinctive (long light and colorful galabeyas, to help deflect heat and protect from the sun). The music is very rich and rhythmic, leading to soft, simple joyful movements.
