Show 8PM.Veteran singer/songwriter Edwin McCain returns with Lucky, his 11th full-length studio album (on McCain’s own Working Nomad Records via BFD/The Orchard/Sony) and first collection of new material since 2011’s Mercy Bound. Known for smash hits like “I’ll Be” and “I Could Not Ask for More,” McCain embraces his enduring career with fresh creative ambition. Co-produced by Lee Brice and Jerrod Niemann with Edwin, and recorded at Brice’s Pump House Studios in Nashville, the album’s ten tracks span blues, soul, rock, and folk influences. From the rollicking opening track “Chasing a Memory” to the aching ballad “Love Me or Leave Me Alone” to the Southern rock tribute “Sing for You,” Lucky reflects McCain’s musical roots while embracing modern inspirations, including an electronic edge on “Empire.” Notably, “Lucky All the Time,” written for Edwin by Old Dominion and featuring a duet by Edwin and Old Dominion’s Matt Ramsey, stands out as the rare upbeat anthem, celebrating McCain’s gratitude for a three-decade career.
A major-label breakout in the mid-'90s with Honor Among Thieves, McCain became a Top 40 “Radio Star” with chart-topping singles and soundtrack success. Now, after a recent tour with Hootie & the Blowfish and Collective Soul, he’s set to hit the road this summer for a highly anticipated tour with Train. Dubbed a “great American romantic” by The New York Times, McCain continues to connect with fans through his music as well as viral TikTok videos where his witty, self-deprecating humor—often at the expense of his exasperated daughter—has won over a new generation of fans. “I found myself in this sweet spot doing this for 35 years,” he reflects. “And if I end up playing for tourists on a deck in Hilton Head one day? That would be OK, too.”

Bringing a new attitude with his raw sound, his potent lyrics pull from the beauty and tragedy found in his experience and upbringing. Inspired by artists like Chris Stapleton, Glen Campbell, Johnny Cash, and Tyler Childers, Kyle jumps back and forth between weary, acoustic ballads, and upbeat, driving tracks.
