Learn about and experience opportunities to engage youth in collecting and using coastal flooding data to inform local decision making
About this Event

Are you an educator interested in engaging youth in assessing the impacts of coastal flooding in your community and informing local action? Join us for a professional learning experience that includes educators, scientists, and local leaders all committed to supporting the next generation of decisionmakers. During this session, we will collect and analyze data on local flood impacts. Using a game designed for students and community members, we will explore resilience optionsand. Then we will discuss actions that communities are already taking to prepare for sea level rise and opportunities for youth to get involved.

During this workshop, we will:

  • Experience NGSS aligned classroom resources that support engaging youth in the Coastal Flooding Community Science Project
  • Gain confidence and field work skills in the coastal flooding data collection protocol and data contribution.
  • Connect with others in the area who are excited involve youth in resilience planning

Participants will receive a $125 stipend, lunch, mileage reimbursements, and contact hours.
