The tasting will include the following drams on the night;
Inchgower 16yo - 1st Fill Bourbon Barrel - 51.7% - 1 of 221 £98.50
Huge vanilla notes initially. Butter Cream, fresh fruit, peach, orange zest, fresh grass with hints of toffee apples. The taste continues with the vanilla notes along with tropical fruits like cantaloupe melon (sprinkled with Demerara sugar?). A few spicy notes come through as well such as cinnamon & green cardamom. With water vanilla icing smothered over sponge cake and now vanilla fudge, caramac and vanilla ice cream drizzled with caramel sauce. Flavours continue on the reduced palate if only slightly lighter and smoother ...extremely easy to drink!
Secret Speyside 14yo 2nd Fill Sherry - 56.6% - 1 of 305 £96.00
Dark fruits - blackberries & redcurrents followed by fruit pastilles - more tropical fruits coming through. With water; warmed buttered croissant with raspberry jam joins the medley.
Aultmore 16yo 1st Fill Oloroso - 55.4% - 1 of282 £105.00
With aromas of polished mahogany wood, cinnamon spice, red apples, cider, cherries, almonds, tablet and milk chocolate – fills the senses with flavour! The unreduced palate continues with wood spice, cinnamon, red fruits and tannins. With water, apples and cider are more prominent bringing a freshness to the floral notes from a morning dew on the fields around Aultmore distillery. The taste with water is much juicer. Red berries join the apples and add depth of flavour. Very moreish!
Blair Athol 12yo - 1st Fill 'Super Porto' Tawny Brq - 51.6% - 1 of 174 £77.50
Aromas of blackcurrants, raspberries, strawberries (Vimto?). Hints of liquorice, plums and slight vanilla notes, with violets and lavender at the end. The taste brings the dark fruits as well along with a slight pepper and anise spice - slightly tannic but not overwhelming. With water the aroma brings the floral notes to prominence becoming more dominant. The reduced taste continues with the berries as before - if anything more fresh and juicy making you want more and more!
Bowmore 27yo - Refill Sherry Butt - 53.1% - 1 of 144 £485.00
The nose is initially floral and sweet with lavender and Parma Violets. This is followed by sticky BBQ sauce smothered over BBQ'd Ribs, smoked over a charcoal fire with a hint of sweet tobacco at the end. The first taste, neat, is chewy and meaty. Smoked BBQ flavours continue along with spicy notes such as red peppercorns. Hints of cherries at the end. Water brings the smoke to the forefront along with an increase in sweetness. On the reduced palate the complexity of flavour only increases with the floral notes now appearing on the taste and this time Hickory BBQ sauce .. mouthwatering!
Taste: On the pallet, the flavours from the nose continue with the addition of slight tannins. Bursting with fruit!
As well as the above, your ticket will include a 200ml Member's Bottle of the following, which we'll keep on our Member's shelf for you to enjoy with friends on your next visit;
Tamnavulin 12yo - Pedro Ximenez - 56/8% - 1 of 314 £85.00
Distilled in 2011 and finished in a 1st fill Pedro Ximenez Sherry Hogshead for 9 months.
The nose offers chocolate ganache mixed with citric sweetness from a lemon icing. Some floral elements offer a lightness.
The palate brings some light tannins and a peppery spice to the familiar chocolate orange taste. With water the whole experience is creamier and sweeter still.
We have priced this tasting to reflect the quality of the spirits, and we've ensured it will cost less than it would to drink these at home, so get involved.
