Climb aboard the Lochrin Belle Canal Boat and dance to the raucous rhythms of cumbia and salsa from local Peruvian Cumbia band Los Chichanos while cruising through the scenic Union Canal in Edinburgh. We welcome all live Latin music lovers and in particular members of the Latin American communities who now live in Edinburgh to climb aboard and join the Union Canal Fiesta! Limited tickets at just 25 available for each cruise.
Dress up in your más vibrante tropical gear! Bright colors, bold patterns, are strongly encouraged—think floral shirts and bright dresses! Whether you're rocking vibrant reds, sunny yellows, or ocean blues, the more brillante the better. Let’s keep it colorido and divertido - the brighter, the better, let’s bailar under the sun and the stars! Don’t forget your warm jackets though because it’s still wintertime in Edinburgh!

About Los Chichanos
The band behind Edinburgh's legendary late night fiestas, Los Chichanos formed to heat up their audiences with pumping live Latin music in the mysterious form of Jungle Cumbia and “chicha”. Originating in Peru, the genre has experienced a worldwide boom in recent years, and it’s clear why – frenzied Latin percussion, jungle sounds, iconic surf-inspired guitar, vintage organ, dark psychedelia and all the raucous rhythms of live cumbia & salsa you could ever dance to! This is wild music at its sweatiest, performed live to make bodies move and minds travel. With members from Brazil, Chile, El Salvador, USA, Australia and the UK, the international combo formed in Scotland in 2021. Their shows regularly reach capacity, proving popular amongst lovers of tropical parties, Latin music and late night dance hangouts. Using traditional cumbia rhythms and full-powered percussion on timbales, congas, bongos and guira, the group mixes experimental electric guitar and iconic nostalgic organ sounds, exploring ‘60s psychedelic and surf influences… The result? A hugely danceable setlist that transforms any night out into an infectious tropical fiesta. Let Los Chichanos lead you on their jungle expedition across the Latino dancefloor and deep into the misty South American rainforest. Dress wild for bonus points!

We love to work in partnership with others to create unique experiences and events at canalside venues and on board our canal boat, the Lochrin Belle. We believe this brings vibrancy to the canal and helps build a dynamic community.
Our current activities include: running boats on the canal for community use and as a social enterprise, a large volunteering programme, a Canalside Health Walk, part of the Paths for All network, a weekly Canalside greenspace group and the organisation of community events and the Edinburgh Canal Festival. Generally we are interested in any opportunities that strengthen our community economically, environmentally or culturally, and promote social inclusion, sustainability and well-being.
