Edible Healing Garden & Arts For LA Present…HOME GROWN ART

The Edible Healing Garden and Arts for LA present a hands-on mosaic workshop on Saturday, July 25th from 9:30 AM to 12 PM.

We’ll be spending the morning protecting our crops and preparing the garden for the late summer heat by fertilizing the beds and laying down a fresh layer of mulch. It’s the perfect time to give our plants some extra love and ensure they thrive through the warmest months ahead.

Alongside the garden workday, we will be joined by Arts for LA who will be facilitating a mosaic workshop activity. Arts for LA leads communities, artists, and organizations to advocate for an equitable, healthy, and vibrant Los Angeles region through the arts. You will have the opportunity to meet their current Emerging Arts Leaders cohort and make your own unique tile out of colored glass shards that will become a lasting part of our community garden. Feel free to create a tile keeping themes of resilience and perseverance, community and cultural diversity in mind, or simply an homage to your favorite food that is grown in the garden! All ages are welcome and no prior experience is needed, everyone is encouraged to participate.

Safety and Materials

For the gardening portion, those willing to bring their own tools and supplies would be greatly appreciated. For the mosaic activity, safety goggles and gloves will be provided. If participating in the mosaic activity, due to the potential harm this activity may cause, we ask that you sign a liability waiver upon arrival. This event is available to all-ages, however if a participant is 17 or younger, a guardian signature is required to participate.

Parking 

Participants can park in the LA + USC Medical Center parking then take either the long staircase or the ramp around the building to the garden. When you see the basketball court, look for the open door to the garden.
