EdgeWaterEmbers: A Lakefront Soundwalk & Immersive Meditation Experience

EdgeWaterEmbers is a site-specific listening experience that invites participants to engage Chicago's lakefront through sound, movement, and reflection. Think of it as a site-specific listening experience that uses Chicago's lakefront as both stage and collaborator.
Created by artist and composer Maasai Amewa (M.S.I), this guided experience combines environmental music, field recordings, ambient sound design, and improvised instrumental performances with a contemplative walk through some of the North Side's most inspiring shoreline landscapes.
Participants will travel a curated route through locations including Foster Beach, the Montrose Bird Sanctuary, and neighboring lakefront environments while listening to EdgeWater Embers through their own headphones. The music has been intentionally composed to interact with the surrounding landscape, blending natural sounds, memory, atmosphere, and reflection into a unified experience.
Throughout the journey, participants will receive prompts encouraging personal reflection, observation, and connection with both the environment and their own inner landscape.
This is not a historical tour or fitness walk. It is a guided listening experience designed to cultivate presence, awareness, and a deeper relationship with place through sound.

• This experience takes place outdoors along public lakefront paths and natural areas.
• Please arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to receive audio files and check in.
• Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing are strongly recommended.
• Restrooms may not be available throughout the entire route.
• There is no dedicated parking associated with this event. Public transportation, rideshare services, cycling, or walking are encouraged.
• The experience proceeds rain or shine unless severe weather conditions create safety concerns.
