Acclaimed cabaret artist Eddie Bruce’s celebration of Tony Bennett—as well as his tributes to Frank Sinatra, Anthony Newley, and the best of Broadway—has been presented, with considerable success, at venues that include the Birdland Theatre, 54 Below and The Metropolitan Room in New York City; Prince Musical Theatre, Suzanne Roberts Theatre, World Café’ Live, and Drexel University’s Mandell Theatre in Philadelphia, and most of the casino/hotels in Atlantic City.
His recorded homage to Bennett and his live shows have been described as “second to none” by legendary broadcaster Bob Perkins. Coming this fall are a new CD, and an eagerly anticipated show at the Kimmel Center on Sunday afternoon, October 25, where Eddie will kick off the Philly Pops’ season with a celebration of Bennett and Sinatra.
For more than four decades, this iconic, versatile and beloved artist has been a popular radio and television host—remember “Dancin’ on Air?”—led a legendary dance ensemble that performed at every society and corporate gala imaginable, performed at Phillies baseball games, and the Thanksgiving Day Parade. Described as electrifying and mesmerizing, Eddie Bruce stands as a personification of show business tradition through the ages.
Christina L. Schwab lives in Havertown, Pennsylvania, and graduated with a double major in theatre and English literature from Providence College in May. While there, she played Julie Jordan in Carousel, among other roles. She also adapted and directed Peggy Webling’s 1928 Frankenstein in February, producing a play that had not been performed in almost 100 years. She is currently participating in the music ministry of Sacred Heart Church and Saint Denis Church, performing in the Delaware County area, and drafting her first novel.
