Ed Seifert returns to the 503 Social Club with Connie & Kathy Sharar (on vocals) and Chris Flynn (on guitar) after having such a fun time here last November. Ed decided to enter the 21st century this year, and finally has music on the popular streaming services the kids seem to love these days. His May release Great Big World features no fewer than eighteen others joining in on the fun, including Connie & Kathy & Chris, as well as Syd Straw, Deni Bonet, and James Mastro.
Connie & Kathy make up half of the Sharar Sisters, who’ve also been active this year, recording a number of new songs and establishing an online presence as a quartet for the first time.
Chris Flynn, doing double duty tonight, is the consummate guitar player, always great at hearing and playing exactly what the song needs. He and Ed go back over thirty years, and he always makes Ed’s songs sound better. So do Connie and Kathy.
“The whole is greater than the sum of the parts”. So it is with Deni Bonet & Chris Flynn. As individual artists, they have more than made their mark in music. As a duo, they have created something extra, engaging and extremely entertaining. Bonet's voice and violin, and Flynn's guitar and voice, have echoed through the United Nations and the White House, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center and Mountain Stage. They have shared stages with REM, Cyndi Lauper, Warren Zevon, Sarah McLachlan, and many others. Their audiences have ranged from festivalgoers, to Presidents Obama and then Vice-President Biden. They've performed their original music as soloists with several full symphony orchestras. For the last seven years, they have melded that skill, experience and musicality on stages across Europe and America, from festivals to house concerts, libraries to radio stations. Their lively and humorous shows are full of self-penned songs and instrumentals, and the warm banter of two people completely at one on the stage."Deni Bonet and Chris Flynn's performances are irresistible for their charisma and musicality.”~ John Platt WFUV 90.7 FM, Public Radio from Fordham University"Together they remind me George Burns and Gracie Allen, or Lucy and Ricky; their banter, charisma and musicality combine to create a playful, lively, sometimes surprising performance." ~ Linda Bolton (Cozy Cabin Concerts)"Great to have hosted you at Wexford Arts Centre. Wonderful evening of stunning music, stories and songs!" ~ Elizabeth Whyte, Executive Director, Wexford Arts Centre (Wexford, Ireland)
Expect a fun set featuring original songs of heartache (usually) and joy (occasionally), and maybe a few surprises.
Rebecca Turner is a singer-songwriter who was born in LA, came of age in NYC, and now lives in NJ, making her music a stylistic soup of canyons, subways, and suburbs. She’s often accompanied by her husband and bass player, Scott Anthony. Together they’ve recorded four albums, and are currently finishing her fifth, “Abbey’s Plant.”
