YOCO warmly invites you to share in a morning of co-created community, connection, & joyful self-expression. A wonderful way to prepare for the upcoming workweek, by connecting with yourself! Some even consider this our Sunday Morning Dance Church :)Ecstatic Dance is a free-form, conscious dance practice where individuals have an opportunity to abandon themselves to the rhythm provided by our Lovely DJ...moving freely to the music...without specific steps or choreography. Participants dance alone or with partner/s, with or without physical contact.
Each dance begins and ends with a facilitated circle. (Please note that you must be on time for opening circle in order to participate). The Sweet Container We'll create together will help support you on your musical journey & provide a wonderful opportunity to process through movement...or even stillness as you feel called... assisting you in letting go of anything that no longer serves you... making space for that which you desire!
Some say Ecstatic Dance is the New Yoga... A moving Meditation & Spiritual Practice... allowing participants to connect with their bodies, emotions, & others...promoting Self-Expression, Emotional Release, Healing, & a sense of community. Dancers are encouraged to let their bodies lead, embodying their feelings & experiences.
Morning Schedule:
Doors open at 9:40AM
10:00AM Opening Circle (Please note, you must be seated in the circle by 10:00AM, as the doors will close at that time.)
10:15-11:45AM Dance
11:45 AM Closing Circle
Ecstatic Dance (E-dance) Guidelines:
Please no talking on the dance floor—A lounge space will be set up to allow for quiet conversation and rest.
Please wear comfortable clothes to move in and plenty of water! And no shoes! Socks are OK. Additional water will be provided.
Ecstatic dance is akin to a yoga class. Please arrive ON TIME for the opening circle. While all are welcome, doors WILL close once the opening circle has begun to protect the sensitivity of each individual's physical, emotional, and mental experience. However, please feel free to leave at any time. Props are available; participants are asked to clean props after use.
E-dance is NOT a club or party experience; it's a carefully facilitated event designed with the intention to promote the union between Mind, Body, & Spirit... much like a yoga class.
The YOCO studio is scent free for the health and comfort of those with allergies. All are welcome!
This event is family friendly, substance free, and Donation Based.
