We gather in the name of BELONGING. To inhabit the wild animals of our bodies, to let the wisdom within show us how to move, and to affirm one another in our realness.YES, friends- we come together to let loose. To shake it through. To find our joy-pain-grief-surprise-delight-peace-release in MOTION.
This isn't choreography — there are no steps to learn, and there is definitely no way to do it wrong. This dance is the free expression of everything swirling within you, and Ecstatic Dance is the dance floor to set it all free.
Your Ecstatic Dance team is Ankati Day, Bruce Walker, Ethan McKenna, Dani Mueller, and Holly Ransom!
The flow of the night:
6:45pm: Doors open, Warmup and Arrive
7:00pm: Opening Circle
7:15: Free Dance with DJ ANKATI
8:45: Soundscape with Ethan McKenna & Closing Circle
There are four guidelines.
Consent is the law of the land. Every dancer is welcome to their space; if you want to dance with, hug, or otherwise share contact with someone, get permission first.
No talking on the dance floor; please speak in quiet voices in the Chill Space only, and let the music and movement guide the dance!
No phones on the dance floor, including videos or photos of the dancers. Take this time to engage directly with the world and set your screen aside!
This is a safe, substance-free dance space, and we hold a high value on clarity of presence: please do not arrive intoxicated or partake in substances during the dance. We get naturally ecstatic on the movement, not on alcohol or drugs.
