Ecstatic Dance
About this Event
Ecstatic Dance is a sober, supportive practice of free-form movement where there are no steps to learn, no choreography to follow, and expectation to look or dance a certain way. It's an invitation to let your heart and soul guide your body, releasing fear, self-consciousness, and the need for judgement or perfection.
Whether you feel called to sway gently, stretch, spin, stomp or simply be present, every movement is welcome. This is an opportunity to quiet the mind, awaken your playful inner child, and connect more deeply with yourself through music and movement.
We'll begin with a guided meditation to help you ground and settle into the space. From there, the various styles of music will start and you'll be free to move however your body feels called as we journey through a variety of musical styles and rhythms. We will close with a short meditation followed by an optional sharing circle, creating space for reflection, community, and meaningful connection.
Come as you are, move as you feel, and leave feeling more connected!
TO KEEP OUR SPACE SAFE PLEASE RESPECT THE FOLLOWING:
No intoxicants: to experience a natural state of awareness, alcohol and recreational drugs are strictly prohibited.
No talking: The dance floor remains silent. You are encouraged to communicate through movement, breath, and eyes rather than verbal communication.
No shoes: Dancing barefoot allows you to properly ground and move freely, though socks and indoor dance shoes may be permitted for safety.
No phones or cameras: To protect the privacy and comfort of all dancers, photography and cell phone usage are not allowed while on the dance floor.
No judgements: There is no right or wrong way to dance, no choreography to learn, and no performance expectations.
PARKING: Free Parking is limited and is first come first serve. Please allow time to find parking beforehand. The doors will be closing at 11:15am.
