Welcome to Ecstatic Dance Kansas City!
For our July dance, we welcome back, the one and only DJ CLANDESTINE! He's been our core Ecstatic Dance DJ throughout all of these 10 years, and each set he weaves is always such a unique and incredible ride. With over 2 decades of experience specializing in a variety of psychedelic genres (dub, sacred bass, funky glitch hop, psytrance and downtempo) ~ each set he formulates is built as a journey from beginning to end, with the dancer's experience as the focal point. With impeccable track selection and a third eye to detail, he always takes us on quite the sonic trip! Cannot wait to celebrate and dance to his set.

What IS Ecstatic Dance?
It's a worldwide freeform dance movement that started on the big island in Hawaii in the year 2000 and is now in almost every major city around the globe.
We begin with a 45 minute yoga class to warm up our bodies and prepare for dance. Our two hour dance journey is facilitated by a professional DJ and follows a wave-like arc. It begins with ambient, slow-tempo music to help you warm up, then builds in energy and intensity to a peak, and finally lands softly in a meditative space. We then close with a sound healing to help you integrate the experience.
The Universal Ecstatic Dance Guidelines help create a safe and sacred space for everyone. Please take a moment to read them—they are the foundation of this practice. Although each Ecstatic Dance throughout the world is unique, these guidelines connect the web of all Ecstatic Dances together as one.
(Move as You Wish)
This is a space for authentic self-expression and freeform movement.
(No Talking on the Dance Floor once the dance begins)
This creates a focused, meditative experience for all. Sounds and emotional expression are welcome: Vocalizations like laughter, cheers, and even cries are completely accepted within the space. Please take verbal conversations outside.
(No Photos/Videos)
We ask that you put your phone away and be fully present. This is a safe space for you to really drop in without distractions worry of showing up on social media. Photos and videos are not permitted.
(No Shoes)
This protects the floor and also grounds you through the vibrations of the music (and bass!) Shoes for medical reasons are OK!
(No Substances:)
This is a sober, drug/alcohol-free space. We get high on the dance, breathe and energy.
(Consent)
Dancing with others is beautiful and welcomed! Just be aware of someone's cues and their interest in dancing with you. If you are unsure or someone's eyes are closed, it is a "no". Dancers are encouraged to not take a "no" personally, as it may be due to someone's personal mood, experiences, or comfort level.
Please note:
~ This event is for adults. No kids please.
~ Arrive showered and clean as it makes a world of difference as we dance (and sweat) together! Also, please refrain from wearing strong scents as many are sensitive to perfumes/colognes. Clean/natural is best.
This practice has been a profoundly life-changing gift for me as I've been an Ecstatic Dancer for 17 years now. 7 of those years at Ecstatic Dance in Oakland California as a dancer, and 10 of those years (still the dancer) but now also having the honor of fascilitating Ecstatic Dance KC.
This community has grown from a small seed into a very strong ever-growiing beautiful co-creation, watered and nourished by every single one of us.
Ecstatic Dance is a non-judgemental, safe and sacred container for you to express your unique, authentic self. Thank you for being a part of this incredible community!
This is my welcome home to you—home to your global Ecstatic Dance family, and home to yourself.
See you on the dance floor!
All my love,
Jenny
