Economic Perspectives on Climate Adaptation in UK Rail Infrastructure

This workshop brings together researchers, industry practitioners, and policy stakeholders to explore emerging economic insights on proactive climate adaptation in UK rail infrastructure. The event is organised by the University of Derby and delivered as part of a sub-project within the DARe Hub, funded by UK Research and Innovation.

The planned sessions will share indicative findings and methodological reflections from recent work examining the economic implications of early adaptation compared with reactive responses to climate-related disruption in the rail sector. The workshop will focus on patterns, assumptions, and interpretive challenges, aiming to support constructive dialogue and future development.

The programme combines short presentations with facilitated discussion and dedicated networking time over lunch. This format is intended to support knowledge exchange across academia, industry, and policy, and to explore how emerging evidence can inform resilience planning, investment appraisal, and future research activity.
