Located on Busselton’s doorstep, the Vasse Wonnerup wetlands are recognised for their outstanding environmental, social, and cultural importance on a local, state, national, and international level. Protecting these values and improving how they are managed is a priority for the local community, Government agencies and Revitalising Geographe Waterways program. Join GeoCatch to hear from expert researchers who are actively studying and caring for this remarkable wetland system:
Dr James Tweedley, Murdoch University.
Topic: Fish and macroinvertebrates of the Vasse Wonnerup.
Dr James Tweedley is a senior lecturer at Murdoch University and an international expert in estuarine ecology. James' research focuses on understanding the factors that influence fish and invertebrates, including environmental conditions, climate change, human impacts, and restoration. He has designed and led monitoring programs for several estuaries across south-western Australia and believes that protecting and managing these systems from a variety of pressures requires collaboration and cooperation from a wide range of people.
Dr Linda Kalnejais, Department of Water and Environmental Regulation.
Topic: Vasse Wonnerup Report Cards and water quality update.
Dr Linda Kalnejais is a Senior Environmental Officer in the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation’s Aquatic Science Branch. She has more than 25 years’ experience in environmental chemistry and engineering, with professional experience in both Western Australia and the United States.
