Echoes of Liberation weaves guided tours of this nationally significant Underground Railroad site with curated Voices of Philadelphia sound and vocal presentations—bringing the words, memories, and lived experiences of enslaved africans, abolitionists, and community voices to life.

As you move through the historic house and grounds, soundscapes and spoken-word elements will deepen the storytelling, transforming the space into a living archive of resistance, resilience, and collective memory. This special program invites visitors not only to learn history—but to hear it.

The Johnson House, built in 1768 and designated a National Historic Landmark, is one of the most significant Underground Railroad sites in Pennsylvania. Today, it serves as a living education center dedicated to preserving Black freedom history and advancing civic learning and community engagement.
