Milton Morris, a charismatic and larger-than-life figure, was a central figure in the Kansas City jazz scene for decades. Our evening will be celbrating the second verison of his eponymous bar, Milton's Tap Room. The 32nd and Main version, where patrons and musicians gathered to share a drink and listen to Milton hold court and play magic from his vast record collection.
Located in the heart of the city, Milton's Tap Room was renowned for it lighting, or lack thereof, Milton called it "the darkest bar in town".
Milton himself was usually found close to the door, with a scotch and water and his favorite cigar. Jazz music filled the room and Milton loved to weave tales of the golden (and not so golden) years of Kansas City.
