Eat the Weeds in Your Backyard

Please join us for our in-town, indoor lecture series!

Join Amanda Adams, local forager and Florida Master Naturalist, to learn about the edible and medicinal plants that are growing in your yard and neighborhood. She will discuss best practices when foraging, how to ID these common plants, and which parts of the plants to use for food and/or medicine. The presentation will last approximately one hour with an optional walk outside the building afterwards to try to find some of these amazing plants in-person.

Amanda Adams graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers with a B.A. in Environmental Studies in 2011, but started her intensive, fascinated observation of plants & the natural world as a child camping with family. She has worked with both cultivated and wild plants for the last 15 years through organic farming, permaculture, environmental education, and leading foraging walks & talks. She is a proud graduate of the Florida Master Naturalist Program, which she recommends to anyone interested in the complex & vibrant world around them.

Light refreshments start at 10:00 am, Lecture will be 10:30 pm to 11:30 pm.
