As you drop into Marple Bridge from Glossop Road, pass the Norfolk Arms and Town St on your left. Just after you see the Midlands pub on your left, take the right turn into Brabyns Park - this will lead you to the free car park. There is also parking on the lower level, but if you park here please walk up to the car park - it is a stone's throw away.
We'll set off on the walk at 09:45.
Details:
The route is on established tracks, much of which are very flat. There is quite a steep downhill section and some short uphill sections towards the end but overall this is a broadly flat and steady route.
Once we come off the canal, we weave through woodland to take in the Roman Lakes, the old Mellor Mill site and the aquaduct.
Kit:
There may be some muddy sections which boots are preferable for, but this walk is pretty much manageable in trainers. Please do still pack warm layers, hat and gloves and a waterproof jacket.
Dogs:
Well behaved dogs allowed, just please be mindful of other group members.
Snacks:
We'll have a pit stop and a light refreshment will be provided by Hadfield Nature Walks. You can request a flask of tea or coffee when you reserve a spot.
