This weekend, Hoosiers across Indiana are coming together for a **Weekend of Witness to End ICE Detention at the Miami Correctional facility**—a statewide call for prayer, solidarity, and peaceful action.
Right here in Indiana, approximately **600 people are currently being held in ICE detention at Miami Correctional Facility in Bunker Hill**, with plans to expand the facility to 1,000 beds.
Behind every detention bed is a person.
Behind every person is a family.
**Every detention bed represents a family in crisis.**
The Eastside Peaceful Protesters will be joining this statewide effort on:
📅 **Friday, August 28, 2026**
⏰ **5:00–6:00 PM**
📍 **Northeast corner of Washington Street & Emerson Avenue**
We’ll hold a **peaceful roadside demonstration** to raise awareness about ICE detention at the Miami Correctional Facility and show our neighbors that Hoosiers care about what happens in our own communities.
**Everyone is welcome!** Bring friends and family, and bring a sign that can be clearly seen from the road. If you don't have a sign, **we’ll have extras available.** ❤️
This is a **family-friendly, peaceful event**, so please make sure all signs and messages reflect that spirit. Our goal is not confrontation—it is to **shine a light, raise awareness, stand in solidarity, and inspire compassionate action.**
