One of the most powerful musical traditions of the Easter season returns as the Tahoe Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus continues Maestro James Rawie’s 21st annual celebration. Experience the sweeping drama of J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion — a deeply moving masterpiece portraying Christ’s betrayal, trial, and crucifixion through expressive arias, dramatic recitatives, and powerful choruses.
Guest tenor Matt Hidalgo performs the demanding role of the Evangelist, guiding the audience through this profound and emotional story.
At the April 4 and Easter Sunday concerts, the music turns from sorrow to celebration with uplifting selections from Handel’s Messiah, culminating in the triumphant Hallelujah Chorus.
