About this Event
Nate Sassoon presents an Easter Monday piano recital that brings together refinement, depth, and quiet brilliance. A pianist and composer with a rare command of historical style and improvisation, Nate combines intellectual clarity with expressive warmth, shaping each work with a strong sense of architecture and color.
The program moves through pillars of the repertoire while maintaining a distinctive curatorial voice. It includes a sonata by Haydn, where wit and balance meet elegance, followed by Beethoven, whose writing expands the expressive and structural boundaries of the instrument. Schubert’s Impromptu in G-flat major offers a moment of lyrical suspension, intimate and luminous. The program continues with music by Niels Gade, rarely heard yet deeply rewarding, and turns to Wagner with the “Good Friday Spell” (Karfreitagszauber) from Parsifal, in a piano transcription that captures its contemplative, almost sacred atmosphere. The recital also features Nate Sassoon’s own compositions, written in dialogue with historical idioms yet unmistakably personal in voice.
The concert is designed to be welcoming and inclusive. Children are warmly invited to attend.
An evening of thoughtful programming, tonal beauty, and artistic integrity.
