Harrow Choral Society’s Easter concertHarrow Choral Society returns to St. Albans Church after its sell-out Christmas Celebration to perform Easter music by Romantic composers of the late nineteenth century on Saturday 5 April, 2025 at 5:30 pm.
Stainer’s Crucifixion is a musical narration of the Passion of Christ, first performed in 1887 in St Marylebone Church in London, whilst Joseph Rheinberger’s Stabat Mater, written at the same time as The Crucifixion, is another moving interpretation of the Easter story. The 90 strong choir, led by Music Director Sam Evans, will also perform Bruckner’s Christus Natus Est and John Sanders’ setting of The Reproaches, the latter often to be heard at Good Friday church services. They will be accompanied by composer and arranger Paul Ayres on piano and organ, and by the Byron Ensemble.
