Something has gone wrong at Osterley House. The animals from the magnificent Tapestry Room have escaped and are now running loose in the gardens. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: track them down and return them to the beautiful 18th-century tapestries where they belong.

The Easter Adventure at Osterley Park runs from 28 March to 12 April 2026, giving families the entire Easter holiday period to explore one of London's most underrated National Trust properties. The trail takes visitors on a loop through the house and grounds, with ten art-and-nature inspired activities at stops along the way — designed for both big and little explorers. Complete the whole trail and you'll earn a chocolate egg reward (with dairy, vegan, and Free From options available), plus the satisfaction of having saved the tapestries.

Osterley Park is a Robert Adam masterpiece — a stunning neoclassical house on the edge of West London, set in over 350 acres of parkland, lakes, and garden. Built for a wealthy Tudor merchant and later transformed by the architect Robert Adam in the 18th century for the Child banking family, the house contains some of Adam's finest interiors, including the Tapestry Room itself (which doubles as the trail's starting inspiration). It's one of the great country houses of London and genuinely deserves to be better known.

The park feels genuinely rural — lake walks, ancient trees, walled kitchen garden — while being served by the Piccadilly Line and located just minutes from the M4. It's a proper escape from the city without actually leaving it. The Easter trail costs £3.50 per person (on top of normal admission) and includes a trail sheet, bunny ears, and your chocolate egg reward. National Trust members enter free; under-5s also free.

The house and gardens are open from 10am to 5pm daily, with last entry to the trail at 4pm. The trail is suitable for all ages, though it works best for children old enough to read clues independently (roughly 5+).
