Eastbourne Silent Book Club - July (Outside).

PLEASE NOTE: this event is weather dependant. If it is raining, or there is a heat warning, the event will be cancelled.
Welcome to the Eastbourne chapter of Silent Book Club. We host monthly events where readers come together as a community to read in companionable silence. Everyone is welcome, and all of our events are free.
There are no set readings at Silent Book Club: you just bring whatever book you would like to read. All genre readers are welcome, as is any format of book including e-readers. Just don't forget your headphones if you'll be bringing an audiobook!
At our outdoor sessions, we don't have to worry about running out of space, however, we politely ask readers to book their free ticket via Eventbrite so we have an idea of numbers. If you have any trouble booking a ticket, please contact us via email [email protected] or on Instagram @EastbourneSBC so that we can assist you.
Please note: if you want to chat, need to check your phone or take a call during the designated silent hour, please step away to avoid disturbing readers.
Meet at the Tennis Cafe entrance of Gildredge Park. Please bring a blanket or chair for comfort. The park has a free on-site carpark, and nearby street parking. There is a cafe with toilets.

Info: We'll meet at the tennis entrance of the park, then find a place for us to sit and get ready to read.

Sharing what we are reading.
Info: We go around in a circle, introduce ourselves and what we are reading. Don't worry if you're shy - you can say as much or as little as you'd like.
🕑: 02:30 PM - 03:30 PM
Silent reading hour.
Info: We turn off our phones and read in silence for an hour.
🕑: 03:30 PM - 04:00 PM
Socialising and goodbyes.
Info: We once again go around in a circle and briefly share our reading experience. Then we have time to chat and socialise, or you can slip away quietly if you'd prefer.
