Our 2025 East Texas Pipe Organ Festival is just a little more than a month away! Our festival honors the life and work of Roy Perry, who was the Texas sales representative for the Aeolian-Skinner Pipe Organ Company of Boston, Massachusetts for two decades. Our flagship organ is the 1949 Aeolian-Skinner, Opus 1173 at First Presbyterian Church, Kilgore. Mr. Perry was organist-choirmaster at this church from 1932 until 1972.
The Crim Family, of Kilgore, discovered Mr. Perry and brought him to Kilgore to be the organist of their church. The rest is history - which we will discuss during our private events during this year's festival, especially at our annual banquet at The Cherokee Club honoring the Crim Family,
Each year we try to honor an individual closely tied with Mr. Perry, Aeolian-Skinner, and Kilgore. In the past we have honored Alexander Boggs Ryan, William Teague, William Watkins, Fred Swann, Albert Russell, Nora Williams, and Robert Owen.
This year we will honor the memory of our cherished colleague, and close friend of Mr. Perry's, Charles Callahan, with performances of Dr. Callahan's works that were associated with him, plus a world premiere by Walt Strony of one of Charles' unpublished manuscripts on a well-known theme.
We have an all-star lineup of presenters for this year's festival! They include George Baker, David Berryhill, Alcee Chriss, Ken Cowan, Scott Dettra, Stefan Engels, Anneliese von Goerken-Zinser, Richard Leppert, Chase Loomer, Organized Rhythm, Mary Pickford, Daryl Robinson, John Schwandt, Shery Sebo, Walt Strony, Bradley Welch, and Clark Wilson on some of the finest pipe organs you will ever hear!
