East Midlands Shape Note Singing Convention
Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April
Kegworth Village Hall, Nottingham Road, Kegworth, DE74 2FH
A warm welcome is extended to singers to join us for a weekend of singing, no previous experience necessary.
Saturday - We’ll sing from the 2025 Green Book and 2012 Cooper Blue Book Editions of The Sacred Harp.
Sunday - We’ll sing from the 2010 Edition of The Christian Harmony.
Some loaner books will be available on both days, please bring your own books and spares if you’re able.
Registration from 10:00am on both days.
There may be a short business meeting at the end of the Saturday session to discuss matters pertaining to the UK Sacred Harp Convention.
Health Precautions
• Please stay away if you have any symptoms of contagious illness - colds, flu, Covid or gastric.
• Singers are requested to contact the chair if they test positive for covid within 2 weeks of the singing.
• Singers will be contacted if there is incidence of covid infection at the singing.
Food:
Dinner on the grounds for both days – please bring a warm or cold dish to share and note that singers are responsible for their own dishes. Refreshment breaks will occur during the day.
Travel:
By public transport
The hall is located a mile from East Midlands Parkway Rail Station and near to East Midlands Airport. The skylink bus to Loughborough runs through Kegworth – get off at the church stop – as does the 901 bus from Nottingham University or Clifton Park and Ride.
By car
From junction 24 of the M1 take the A6 towards Loughborough. Take the left hand fork onto Side Ley, at the 6th right turn onto Nottingham Road. The hall is on the left with parking on site.
Accommodation:
There are 4 hotels / bed and breakfast in the village – Kegworth Hotel, Best Western, The Coach House and Pheasant House. Plus hotels at East Midlands airport. Some accommodation maybe available with local singers please enquire with the Chair.
