Zero Waste: The City of Bellevue takes the lead with facilitating and educating about the need to increase waste diversion in Bellevue. Since 2015, our recycling rate has increased from 7% to 18% but we are not stopping there. In 2025, the city is creating a new rollout promote residential recycling, and household and yard waste composting. We continue to promote orange bag recycling which Bellevue has been doing since 2016 and currently the contents are being processed into lumber by Solutions Plastics in Omaha. Green Bellevue partners with Hillside Solutions with the lunchroom composting at Bellevue East and West. And we promote the Compost Club for residential compost drop off.
