2026 Earth Day Clean Day & Celebration 🌎

Join us for a community Earth Day Clean Day and celebration along the Woonasquatucket River Greenway! Volunteers of all ages are invited to spend the day caring for the watershed while enjoying music, games, food, and time outdoors with neighbors and friends.

From 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM, participants can take part in hands-on service activities such as trash cleanup, weeding and mulching, and community planting along the greenway. We’ll also host a rain barrel painting workshop where participants can decorate a rain barrel to take home and learn how to install a rainwater collection system (15 barrels available total: 10 by pre-registration and 5 for walk-ins).

Seedlings started during our earlier seed-sowing workshops will be planted at the event, and participants from those workshops are encouraged to bring the plants they started to add to the garden. Volunteers will also help plant new blueberry bushes supported by NBC.

Throughout the entire event (10 AM – 2 PM), enjoy community tables, music, games, and family-friendly activities, along with pizza (including gluten-free options), fruit, snacks, and light refreshments.

All tools and materials will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, dress for the weather, and bring their own gloves or gardening tools if preferred (please label personal items).

Parking: Street parking is available along both sides of Goldsmith Street. Designated accessible and staff parking will be reserved in marked spaces.

Optional Earth Day Bike Ride 🚲

Make your trip to the event part of the celebration by joining our family-friendly bike ride on the Woonasquatucket River Greenway!

The ride will depart from Riverside Park at 9:00 AM, traveling 1.7 miles on the paved, off-road greenway to arrive at the Clean Day event in time for the 10 AM start. The ride takes approximately 15 minutes each way and is suitable for most riders.

At the end of the event, riders who wish to return together will gather at 2:15 PM at the event site and bike back to Riverside Park.

Participants should bring their own bike in good working condition and a helmet (helmets are required). If you do not have a bike, you can request a WRWC bike rental through the Eventbrite add-on during registration. Bike and helmet rentals are limited and must be requested by Wednesday, April 15.

• Wheelchair accessibility: The bike path is paved and accessible. Some service areas are located on uneven or sloped terrain.
• Physical activity level: Participants may choose their level of involvement—from light activities to more active service. The optional bike ride is an easy 1.7-mile paved ride.
• Language: The event will be conducted in English with Spanish-translated materials available. Bilingual Spanish-speaking staff are available upon request.
• Family friendly: Yes—participants of all ages are welcome.
• Food: Pizza (including gluten-free), fruit, snacks, and light refreshments will be provided.
