Earth Day Aloha+ Workday

Join us for a hands-on invasive plant removal workday supporting native ecosystem recovery in Moanalua Valley. Volunteers will help clear fast-growing, fire-prone invasive species including haole koa (stumps and seedlings), Chinese violet, and guinea grass.

A range of tasks will be available depending on comfort and experience, from more physically intensive pickaxe work (ʻōʻō removal), to hand weeding around native plants using hand tools, and light hand sawing of small woody growth. No prior experience is needed – guidance will be provided on-site.

Please note that there are no restrooms available at the site. The nearest restrooms are located approximately a 5-minute drive away at the Moanalua Community Park. Street parking is available, and carpooling is strongly encouraged due to limited space.

All participants are required to complete a waiver prior to attending. Adults (18+) must complete the adult waiver form, which will be emailed to you after registration. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, complete the minor waiver form, and have their parent/guardian complete the adult waiver as well. Please ensure that your emergency contact listed on the waiver is not someone attending the event, including parents or guardians accompanying minors.

Please come prepared for outdoor, hands-on field work. We recommend wearing covered, sturdy shoes, long pants, and a comfortable shirt you don’t mind getting dirty. Be sure to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, along with sun protection such as a hat and sunscreen. Please also pack snacks and a lunch. A light rain jacket is also encouraged, as weather conditions can change quickly. If you have work gloves, please bring them (though some may be provided on-site).
