About this Event
Get ready for a practically magical time at Ears to You, a Mickey Mouse–inspired cookie decorating class that’s sure to make your heart say, “Oh boy!” In this hands-on experience, you’ll decorate adorable mouse-themed sugar cookies while learning easy piping, flooding, and decorating techniques that are perfect for advanced beginners and intermediate students alike. I provide everything you need — pre-baked cookies, royal icing, sprinkles, and a take-home box — so you can simply show up and let your creativity sparkle. It’s the perfect way to add a little pixie-dusted sweetness to your week, because every baker deserves a happily ever after.
ALL registrants ages 12-18 must have a parent, guardian, or family member register separately and attend /particiate in class too. (No students under the age of 12, please).
What you'll get:
- Five cookies to decorate, icing, and all the things needed to perfect the set
- Individual instruction from Micah in a no-pressure, self-paced class
- A thank you cookie to enjoy while you work or take home
- Chance to win a magical class giveaway
- A charming venue that's looks like Isabella herself decorated it
- Electronic materials sent home after class to continue the decorating fun
- A sparkly drink to make you feel warm and relaxed
Class registrants must be age 12+ but a parent/guardian must register in addition and attend.
This class is a slightly more advanced class if you've taken a cookie class with me before (and if not, it'll still be fun - so come anyway)! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, would like to learn about the pros and cons of royal icing, or just enjoy decorating with sprinkles, this class is for you! I'll provide everything you need from cookies, icing, tools, and a box to take home your awesome creations.
So that other family members or friends don't feel left out, consider purchasing an add-on kit! They're great for extending your practice or sharing with loved ones! Plus, I'll send you the electronic class materials so you can teach them yourself, or, skip the detailed instructions and just go crazy with cookies, icing, and sprinkles!
The class will be held at the beautiful and chic Sapphire & Lace floral cottage in Wexford, PA. Parking is free, but can be a bit tricky (especially at night), so look for Leon's or the Ziebart in Wexford that can help with the directions/GPS - and additional parking spaces.
Outline of Sugar Cookie Class
If you're like me with severe social anxiety, I want to let you know what you can expect from a beginner class! My classes are based in Pittsburgh (both public and privately offered) and cater to the beginner cookier or those just looking to have fun learning a new skill.
For classes, all you will need to bring are yourselves (and aprons if you'd like), and I'll take care of the rest. If you'd like, it's not a bad idea to bring eyeglasses so you can see the instructional materials. You'll receive a set of pre-baked cookies (pretty tasty if I do say so myself) as well as all the supplies needed to decorate them. I'll be there to help you one-on-one with any questions or examples you might need.
Classes are an hour and a half, giving us enough time to decorate the cookies and answer questions along the way. You will leave the class with 6 freshly decorated cookies to share with family or friends or save just for yourself - that is, if they make it all the way home without being eaten!
I offer classes monthly which highlight different themes of the year, so make sure to sign up for my cookie email list (on micahmadecookies.com) or follow Micah Made Cookies on Eventbrite so you can stay in on the cookie action!
Health/General Cancellation Policy for In-Person
Classes
Note - classes do NOT currently require masks for vaccinated individuals. My classes follow the current recommendation by the state of PA and CDC.
You will not be required to wear a mask throughout the class; however, you can choose to wear a mask if you'd like! I provide hand sanitizer on each table, along with plenty of Clorox wipes upon request. I have little ones at home and am the first person to skip family functions (to this day) where more than 8 are gathered, but I can't make the same promise for everyone else in the room. Please keep this in mind when registering and consider this too if you're on the fence about mask-wearing. And if you want to wear a mask and don't want to be the only one, I'll gladly wear mine in solidarity with you, so just let me know beforehand! I'll make sure worksurfaces are disinfected before classes start.
Showing Symptoms Before 7 Days Out:
If you are sick prior to the 7-day refund cutoff, you can cancel for a full refund! And thank you for being honest and awesome.
Showing Symptoms After 7 Days Out:
For any sickness symptoms prior to your class’s start time but after the 7-day refund policy, please email me before your class’s start time, and I’ll give you a credit for the next class!
If you arrive at class with symptoms of COVID-19, I will ask that you leave class, but you'll be given a full credit towards a future class. Please just get well!
You Don't Show Up Or Email Prior To Class (Health-Related):
If I do not hear from you before your class’s start time, and you do not show up for class, I won’t be able to offer you a refund or a credit regardless of whether or not you're sick. So please reach out to me if you’re feeling sick before class starts!
Questions? Email Me!
I check emails as SOON as possible (but not on the weekend). Feel free to send me your questions or concerns and I'll address them as best as I can.
My email address is: [email protected].
Thank you for supporting my small and mom-owned business. It really is a JOY to get to combine my two favorite things - teaching and lots and lots of sugar!
FAQs
What will I be doing in class?
Besides having so much fun and learning something new, we'll go over some cookie facts, decorating techniques, and you'll create a set of cookies that you'll take home!
What should I bring to and from class?
Just bring yourselves, cute aprons if you'd like, your glasses, your phone, and masks (optional). You'll be taking home a set of a half dozen gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24 hours in their own box. And of course you'll have everything provided for you during the lesson from decorating tools to Micah's tips and tricks. You'll also receive the electronic version of class materials used and a supply list with links after class ends.
What if I have allergies?
Eggs, gluten, and dairy are present in my inspected and licensed kitchen used to bake these cookies and icing. Nuts or legumes are never used on ANY of my equipment or in my licensed kitchen. Dairy, gluten, and eggs are present in the cookies themselves so please consider any of these allergies before registering. NEW - If you require gluten-free cookies to decorate in class, please send me an email prior to registering at [email protected] and let me know your preference. I will do my best to meet your accomodation and will let you know if it's available upon request!
How do I register?
You're in the right place! Each person must register individually for this class, so if you'd like to attend as a group, please register around the same time so that you can all get a seat, or email Micah at [email protected] for information on private classes.
How many people can come?
This class is limited to 14 seats so please sign up ASAP!
If you're coming with a group (or even one other person), please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early to class to make sure you can all be seated together. Seating is first-come, first-served. Feel free to email Micah ahead of time if you have any questions.
Can I purchase an additional take-home cookie kit or tool kit?
Yes! Many past attendees or practicing cookiers have purchased additional class cookie kits (and/or tool kits) to take home and re-do the classes or just have fun icing things with other family members. You can purchase your kit(s) at registration and it'll be available for you at the end of class - so don't forget it! If you're skipping class and just ordering the kit, swing by any time during class to sneak in and pick it up - it'll be labeled with your name.
I signed up for a class but can't make it?!
I understand that life happens, so you can cancel up to 7 days before the class (for a refund). You can always transfer your spot to a friend (and what a nice friend you are) if it's past the 7-day window. Please read above for COVID-19 cancellation policies.
Eventbrite Fees:
Your ticket price includes your Eventbrite fees; however, Eventbrite does NOT refund its fees. If you end up cancelling your ticket for a refund (before the 7-day window), you'll get the refund less the Eventbrite fee since MMC doesn't receive this back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel! :(
