Summer’s wild bounty is waiting to be discovered—yummy greens, tender flowers, and perhaps a surprise berry.Through playful activities, we’ll seek out seasonal edible plants, learn their uses, and gather a few to take home. As we explore, we’ll discuss ethical foraging, the principles of the Honorable Harvest, and how foraging can deepen our connection to both the land and ourselves.
While enjoying your forage, you'll slow down, become more present, and rekindle an ancient relationship with nature. Whether you’re here for knowledge, nourishment, or a moment of peace in the woods, you are welcome just as you are.

THINGS TO BRING
* Standard attire and sun protection for hands-on outdoor learning: closed-toe shoes, high socks, hat, jeans, sunscreen
* Water bottle
* Basket or bag to collect your discoveries
* A notebook and a pen/pencil for writing and drawing (optional)

Sliding scale fee: $5 - $25, based upon your access to resources.

EDUCATOR
Taught by Emmie Klever. Emmie holds a Wild-harvested Mushrooms Certification from Iowa State University and currently studies Anthropology and Sustainability at the University of Iowa. She discovered a love of foraging in her hometown of Iowa City three years ago.
LOCATION
Hickory Hill Park south entrance on Bloomington Street. We'll gather at the shelter.
